Yellow Quill Wilderness
September 13th 2015 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Organizer: Ang Bajt (Event Director)
Map: Yellow Quill
This wilderness event takes place on the Yellow Quill map in Spruce Woods Provincial Park. Parking will be at the Epinette trailhead, which is 17 km south of Carberry on Hwy-5.
There will be a variety of training and competitive courses open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM:
- Course 1 will have controls along the trail and is perfect for families and those wanting to try orienteering for the first time.
- The three Adventure Training courses will have controls near the trails with some bearing work required. Perfect exercise for the upcoming Swamp Donkey Adventure Race. There will also be master maps (showing all controls) for those who pre-order.
- The three advanced courses (Courses 5, 8, 10) are intended for competitive orienteers. These courses can also be used for AR training, but they require more interpretation of small map features versus compass work.
To register, use this web site or contact Angela Bajt (abajt at mts.net or 204-878-3823). Please register as early as possible to help ensure that maps will be available. If you're registering for the training, please register for each course that you might want to start.
Note: All participants must be MOA members. See www.orienteering.mb.ca/membership.html for details. If you bring a completed membership form to this event, your entry fee will be reduced by the amount of the membership fee, meaning that you essentially get a free membership. Entry fees for this event are $10.00 for Adults and $5.00 for Juniors.
