Map: Living Prairie Park

This is our second park meet during National Orienteering Week! The map contains an interesting mix of urban forest, tall grass prairie and housing. No experience is required. Families are welcome. We'll have volunteers on hand to give instructions to those trying orienteering for the first time.

Where: The event will start in the LIVING PRAIRIE PLAYGROUND. There are some parking spots at the playground entrance, just north of Prairie View Road. More parking is available at the Living Prairie Museum or on Prairie View Road and the streets close by. Follow the orange and white orienteering signs.

What to bring: We suggest wearing running shoes and clothes to be physically active. It's up to you if you want to run or walk. We'll supply the map. Compasses aren't required, but you can bring one if you have one. We will have a few to borrow.

Registration: Please register in advance on this page if possible, so that we have an idea of how many maps to print. Pre-registration isn't mandatory for this event. Just show up that afternoon if you don't have a chance to register before.

Want More Information?: If you want to learn more about orienteering before the event, head over to Orienteering Canada's "try it" page for some basic info about the sport.

Orienteering is one of the sports on ParticipACTION's 150 Play List - a great list of 150 physical activities to try to help celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. Check out the 150 Play List. This event is the perfect event to check orienteering off your 150 Play List!
