Hartney - Long Wilderness

Meet Information: (Updated April 29th)
Due to poor road conditions (as of now) all orienteers will meet at the Hartney Card Lock. It is located just off Hwy. # 21 near the entrance to the town. A map showing the best way to the event site will be posted. Registration will take place at the Cardlock and we can travel by caravan to the map location.
The following courses are available:
Course 3: 2-3 km
Course 5: 3-4 km
Course 8: 5-7 km
Course 10: 7-10 km
Note: All of these courses will require off-trail navigation by map and compass. This could be difficult if you have never used a compass before. However, volunteers will be available to get beginners started.
All orienteers need to pre-register with Jim (jblee@mymts.net or phone 204-858-2358) by Tuesday, May 1st. Late registrants or day-of-event registrants will run on whatever course maps are available.
Schedule:
Registration at Cardlock: 12:30 p.m. -- 1:30 p.m.
Travel to site: 1:30 p.m.
First Start: 2:00 p.m.
New Info:
The Red Door Cafe is not open on Weekends (due to lack of Help). I am not sure about the ARC cafe at the corner.
The Motor Inn is booked due to a large social that evening. Vendor is open to 1:00 a.m.
The Coop Store is open to 6:00 p.m.
Souris is holding a town-wide garage sale on Sat.
The Hartney Legion is doing breakfast Sunday: 9:00 to 12:00 for $6.00 coffee and taxes included
Note: All participants must now be MOA members. Memberships cost $5.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Juniors. Membership forms and waivers can be printed from www.orienteering.mb.ca/membership.html and filled out beforehand. Meet fees for this event are $10.00 for Adults, $8.00 for Juniors, and $20.00 for Families.
