U of M City Park Meets

The event will be held in the heart of the Fort Garry campus. Meeting location is at the southern entrance of the Allen physics building (see map below). Please park on lot Q off Dysart Rd (free after 4:30pm). Closest bus stop is at the U of M terminus.
You can pre-register for the event using this website (see "Course Registration" on the right) or by contacting the organizers (see email addresses at the bottom). Pre-registration will ensure that a map is available for you. We will have a limited number of compasses on site to lend (a compass is always useful, although not strictly needed for this kind of terrain). We will also offer a beginner's clinic, for those not familiar with the techniques of map reading and navigation.
Event entry costs $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for juniors, to be paid by cash on site. A mandatory 2015 MOA Membership is included in this price.
We offer two courses, of equivalent technical difficulty but of different lengths (distances announced are measured as the crow flies, expect to walk/run at least 30% more). The campus offers a unique terrain for orienteering, delimitated by the complex network of buildings (that must not be entered!), and adorned with numerous small features (do not trample the flowerbeds!). Note that this is a urban terrain, so you will have to pay attention to other people on campus at all times, and in particular to car traffic when crossing roads.
Each participant has a 2 hours time limit. All must report to the finish. Results will be followed live, and awards will be given toward the end of the event. Beginners registered to their very first orienteering event will be eligible for small prizes.

L'événement aura lieu au cœur du campus Fort Garry. Le lieu de rendez-vous est à l'entrée sud du bâtiment Allen de physique (voir carte ci-dessous). Merci de stationner sur l'emplacement Q sur Dysart Rd (gratuit après 16h30). L'arrêt de bus le plus proche est au terminus U of M.
Vous pouvez vous pré-inscrire à l'événement en utilisant ce site (voir "Course Registration" à droite) ou en communiquant avec les organisateurs (voir adresses courriel en bas). La pré-inscription assurera qu'une carte soit disponible pour vous. Nous aurons un nombre limité de boussoles sur place à prêter (une boussole est toujours utile, mais pas strictement nécessaire pour ce type de terrain). Nous offrons également une clinique pour les débutants, pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas les techniques de lecture de carte et de navigation.
La participation à l'événement coûte 5,00 $ pour les adultes et 3,00 $ pour les jeunes, à payer en espèces sur place. Une adhésion obligatoire pour 2015 au MOA est incluse dans ce prix.
Nous offrons deux parcours de difficulté technique équivalente mais longueurs différentes (les distances annoncées sont mesurées à vol d'oiseau, attendez-vous à marcher/courir au moins 30% de plus). Le campus offre un terrain unique pour la course d'orientation, délimité par un réseau complexe de bâtiments (dans lesquels on ne doit pas entrer!), et embelli par de nombreux petits éléments (ne pas piétiner les plates-bandes!). Notez qu'il s'agit d'un terrain urbain, vous devrez donc faire attention aux autres personnes sur le campus à tout instant, et en particulier à la circulation automobile en traversant les routes.
Chaque participant a une durée limite de 2 heures. Tous doivent se présenter à l'arrivée. Les résultats seront suivis en direct, et des prix seront décernés vers la fin de l'événement. Les débutants inscrits à leur toute première course d'orientation seront admissibles pour des petits prix.
